Users on our paid price transparency web platform, Signal, now have access to in-line historical data look-backs, and the insights have been pouring out!
Some of the exciting ways our customers have been using this functionality include:
Understanding outcomes from payer negotiations
Ever curious which providers got reimbursement increases or decreases with a payer?
Whether you are helping self-insured groups predict future cost trends or engaged in an active contracting discussion and need benchmarks - you can have answers in seconds:
For example, Baylor's inpatient rates increased with BCBS-TX over ~30% compared to last year - see screenshot below for a c-section delivery (MS-DRG 787) which went from $22K → $30K:

Meanwhile, Medical City's rates are much lower and only grew 6% vs last year - see example for same c-section delivery (MS-DRG 787):

With data refreshing monthly, price transparency continues to be one of the most up-to-date sources on healthcare costs, especially compared to costly vs. claims data that often lags years behind!.
Our tools and automation bring in data as soon as it is published each month - making it purpose-built for organizations interested in taking a proactive approach to managing costs.
You no longer need to be in the dark or wait for claims reporting to understand unit-level price trends. With price transparency, these answers are a few clicks away!
Seeing growth in credentialed NPIs
One of the biggest trends / innovations in healthcare to increase supply has been the growth of the ‘practice in a box’ model. Companies like Alma (Behavioral Health), Finni (ABA), or Fay Nutrition (nutrition) aggregate individual practitioners into a group, negotiate contracts with payers on their behalf, and manage their billing+appointments+revenue cycle to help their providers focus on care delivery (vs. admin work).
Many VCs, PE funds, and payers are interested in further understanding the growth of these groups and how much scale they’ve achieved since they’ve started.
Price transparency data offers an unvarnished look into the number of credentialed NPIs by company so you can see, for example, Sondermind (EIN: 475025949) in 2024 had ~7K NPIs on their nationwide roster with Optum…

… and now in 2025 this has grown to closer to ~10K NPIs

What’s even more powerful is we can compare the specific individuals who comprised the ~7K NPIs in 2024 to the new roster in 2025 and see which providers churned (and moved to another platform) and which providers joined (by credential-geography) to analyze patterns around provider retention + recruitment.
Even more, this analysis can scale up to the network-level to see trends around network-adequacy and which gaps are emerging or closing around certain kinds of specialty care (e.g., infusion, OB-GYN, gastro, behavioral health).
