One of the most common requests we receive at Serif is ‘how do our contracted rates compare to like-providers in our market?’

While a simple question on face, anyone familiar with the payer price transparency data knows provider-to-provider comparison involves a lot of research effort and nuance to do well. That is why we are excited to announce that our Peer Benchmarks report is out of beta and available to all Signal platform users.

With Peer Benchmarks, Serif helps ensure you have the best tools available to find relevant providers and stack their rates up against each other. So, let’s say you are an oncology group in Texas looking to understand what others receive on a commonly utilized procedure – CPT 19303 for ‘Simple Mastectomy’:
First, leverage our proprietary provider directory to find the right set of EINs + NPIs connected to a provider’s colloquial name. (We talk about all the ins-and-outs of this functionality in-depth in our ‘provider search guide’ - worth checking out if you haven’t read it yet!)

Then, create custom groups for each set of EINs + NPIs with your own descriptive label:

Afterwards, select your groups, codes, and apply any additional filters available in Signal (e.g., for specific payers, arrangements, modifiers, etc.) and in-seconds you will have an easy to understand side-by-side comparison of rates:

If any data point piques your interest, you can always dive deeper into any given cell and see the full raw data the payer disclosed. For example, curious how large the oncology group is that’s receiving the highest rate with United? Just click into the ‘$2688’. We’ll show you every row of raw MRF data connected to that provider group. Scroll over to ‘NPI List Length’ to find out they have 137 NPIs credentialed in Texas:

Apart from rates, another use case for the Peer Benchmarks report is understanding your peers’ payer strategy and where they are in-network. Before diving into any reimbursement details, you can see how many payers return for a given provider group and code:

By saving reports like these, you can easily refresh them month-to-month with the latest data to see how your peers’ in-network status, headcount, and contracted rates change over time.

We’re really excited to have Peer Benchmarks out and available. If you are interested in trying it out, please reach out to sales@serifhealth.com to learn more.
